Mom in the Spotlight: Sue Honors Donna

Posted by

And we wrap up this month’s Mom in the Spotlight with a sweet mother-daughter story that will likely make you chuckle, and possibly bring a tear to your eye, but only because Mom did remember to turn the car around.

1. What is YOUR name?

My name is Sue/Beach Lover

2. What is your Mom’s name?

Mom is Donna/Moon/Star

3. How did you both discover Solitaire TriPeaks?

I was looking for a more interesting solitaire game when I stumbled onto TriPeaks. After discovering what fun it was, I got my mom hooked on it too. She’s 85 years old and loves it. She actually plays 2 games, one on her phone and the other one on her tablet.

4. Are you both in Clubs? Are you in the SAME Club?

We are both in the same Club, BeautifulMinds and we love that Club.

5. How does Solitaire TriPeaks help your relationship?

We have a great relationship, not sure if even the game can improve that but it gives us lots to talk about. When I have to work a 10 or 12-hour day about all I have time to do is eat, shower and sleep before going to work again. Mom takes my phone while I’m sleeping and plays my game for me.

6. Have you ever had an argument over the game?

We never argue but we teach each other a lot. Mostly I have taught her the intricacies of the game. I do have a problem with her though when she plays my games for me and uses up my hazard cards and buys too many extra cards using up my Coins! I set her straight on that, though, and taught her how to play smart and not waste hazard cards and Coins when it isn’t necessary. She’s a quick learner for an old broad. lol

7. Be honest – who is the better player?

Mom will tell you that I am the better player. I have more discipline and have accumulated a lot more Coins than she has but she is learning and has accumulated a goodly stash of her own on both of her games.

8. What’s your favorite “Mom” story?

I take Mom kayaking with me and my favorite story is about kayaking. We were out on the lake and due to heavy current I had her get out of the kayak so that we could tow them to calmer water. Well, her kayak got away and since she was holding on to it, as it floated out of reach while she kept holding on, she fell on her face in the lake. When she came up out of the water, her bathing suit had come down. Fortunately, no one else was on the lake at the time. We had a good laugh over that.

9. What’s your mom’s favorite story about you?

Mom says that she has so many favorite stories that she doesn’t know what her most favorite would be. She thinks that it might be the day we were driving back from Pymatuning Lake with another family who had a whole bunch of kids, so many that we had 2 cars full of kids. As she looked around she noticed that I wasn’t in her car and hailed the neighbor to stop so we could check his car and no, I wasn’t in there either.

The had to drive back to the lake 80 miles-an-hour only to find me standing at the concession stand with a cop, crying that I didn’t know where my family was. I had gone across the big parking lot to go fishing and they left me there. I was only 6 years old and I’ve never let her forget that she left me behind. They were all very happy to find me alive and well. I guess that’s how it is when there are so many of us. I have 4 siblings and the other family had 9 kids.

10. Do you have any final thoughts you’d like to share with the Solitaire TriPeaks Community?

I think more people should share this game with family members who like games. You can compete against each other as we often race to see who can max the quests first.
