Pet Spotlight: Meet Bandit!

Posted by

The bird’s name is Bandit, and true to his name, he’s stolen Tera’s heart. You never know what you’re getting into whenever you get a pet, but as Tera can testify, it can be really interesting when your pet speaks a bit of English!

1. What is your name and how long have you been playing Solitaire TriPeaks?

My name is Tera (in the game it’s TipsyTurtle). I have been playing TriPeaks Solitaire for many years now, but I had taken a break from it when I got pretty sick. I’ve been actively playing again for about a year.

2. What is the name of this bird?

I have many pets, but wanted to share this sweetheart with you. His name is Bandit.

3. What breed or type is he?

He is a Galah. They are native to Australia (they live their lives in flocks, from ten all the way up to one thousand)

4. How did your Bandit come into your life?

My husband and I have rescued birds for twenty years. Bandit needed a good, forever home with people who could give him the time and attention he needs. Parrots require about the same amount of time and attention as a three year old.

5. What’s the cutest thing he does?

Bandit does a lot of cute things. My favorite is when he curls up in the crook of my arm and lays on his back. My second favorite is when he says “Goodnight, I love you” every night at bedtime.

6. What’s the one thing you wish he would stop doing?

Bandit learned some naughty words before he came to live with us. I would very much like it if he wouldn’t swear at people who are visiting our house for the first time. He loves the shock factor, so when he sees people he doesn’t know he blurts out a couple of expletives directed towards them. People always end up giving him the reaction he was hoping for.

7. How does Bandit encourage you to keep playing TriPeaks?

Oddly enough, Bandit loves the music and sounds of TriPeaks. He would be pretty upset if he didn’t get to dance along while I play the game each day.

8. What’s the funniest story you have about something he’s done?

We have an Australian Shepherd named Koopali (Koop, for short). One night after Bandit had said goodnight to us, we started going up stairs to our room. Before I could call Koopali, Bandit said “Come on Koop, hurry up!” Koopali was so confused at first. It was hilarious.

9. Are you in a Club? If so, do they all know about Bandit?

I am part of ClassyAngels, we haven’t talked about Bandit yet. But I know he’ll come up in conversation soon.

10. Do you have any final words you’d like to share?

Bandit loves to drive cars around the house. It is ridiculously cute to watch. He is extremely cuddly, and gets pretty grouchy if he doesn’t get his snuggle time. He’ll happily fall asleep laying on his back with his feet up on the air, all snuggled into our arms, or just on our lap. One of his favorite things is car rides. He’s just a sweet, fun loving, hilarious bundle of joy. He is definitely a lot of work, something people really need to keep in mind before getting a bird, especially the larger ones. But he is worth all of the work, and more!
