Thankfully, Poi has recently met a new friend, Joi, and there’s nothing Joi wants more than to help him escape from the slithery clutch and hook of that odious old captain, who will not let him go until Poi brings him, and his porkified peons, treasure!
But, she’s going to need YOUR help in Joi’s Journey!
HOW CAN I HELP JOI SAVE POI?
First – you must find where this is all taking place, which you’ll see on the main screen whenever a new episode is available:
Once there, you’ll notice the episode title. (Yes, sadly for Poi, but lucky for the rest of us, Karma has made a habit of appropriating Poi). In this episode, Cold as Ice, you’ll see Joi venturing forth on ice blocks in an effort to get closer to her dear one. She needs you to play those levels to advance.
You’ll also notice that you only have 5 lives per episode, so you’ll want to be careful not to lose them. However, if you do, don’t worry, they will refill, or you can use Coins to refill immediately:
Thankfully, Poi is able to communicate to Joi through letters, but once Crooked Karma figures this out, he starts sending letters to Joi as well, and they’re not very nice:
You’ll be privy to these messages as you move along.
BEHOLD THE MINI BOSS LEVEL!
Every so often you’ll encounter a Mini-Boss Level, where the Itty-Bitty Bacon Boss will cut you off after the timer runs out and then cruelly put an end to the game, causing you to lose a life if you haven’t finished. You’ll be well-aware of the Boss Levels, because you can see the Flying Pig above Joi before you start the level, again when you’re about to play, and a final warning when you enter the game:
BEAT THE MINI-BOSS AND BE REWARDED!
If you beat the Mini-Boss Level, you’ll see the face of the sad swine, AND be handsomely rewarded:
THE TIME WILL COME WHEN YOU MUST BEAT THE BIG BOSS!
While it’s certainly gratifying to beat the Mini-Boss, the real satisfaction comes in beating the Boss himself. That’s right. In your final level, you’ll be pitted against Captain Karma, making Poi’s rescue, and Joi’s happiness dependent upon YOU! Like the Mini-Boss Level, the Boss Level requires that you complete the game before the clock runs out, or you lose the game, and one of your lives.
You’ll know when you’re up against the Boss Level, because you’ll see that slithery lizard, Karma, himself in the pregame screen:
After you beat the Boss Level, there’s a sweet Chest for you! But even better than all the Chests in the world? You’ll be bringing Poi back to Joi…
