Player Ghost Stories: They Wanted My Family to Know They Were Okay

Posted by
Today we kick off our annual Player Ghost Stories, and we begin with one that’s both a little freaky, but also ultimately quite adorable, as it involves a couple of “Ghost Dogs” who, apparently, wanted everyone to know that they were doing just fine.

What is your name?
My name is Tracy Andrews

Are you in a Club? If so, which one, and who’s your favorite Tiki Solitaire TriPeaks Character?

My Club is TikiWolf and my favorite character is Poi the puppy.

Let’s hear your story…

All my life my family and I have had dogs.  I could now tell you every dog my family has ever had. But when I was a child this wasn’t the case.

At the time I had a Rottweiler named Jocko and a Cairn Terrier named Pluto. I knew that my parents owned dogs before but never thought to ask about them.

Well, one night I had a dream, one of those dreams you swear is real when you wake up.

I dreamt that I was with my family at Fantasy Island. We were having lunch at picnic table. My Mom comes over and hands me the leash to a dog i didn’t know. It was a beagle (only I didn’t know the breed at the time) just a brown, black and white short dog. My Mom told me his name is Snoopy (now, I’m not a big Peanuts fan and at the time, yes I’d heard the name, but being only a kid I didn’t really associate the two). I was so happy and Snoopy and I played all day and he was happy. There was another Beagle there too where we were playing and she joined in with us. I heard the owner say her name is Missy. The two dogs seemed to know each other. At the end of the day, I handed Snoopy to my Mom and he licked her face as she held him.

That morning I woke up excited to tell my family all about my dream. My Mom and Aunt just stared at me, looking a bit shocked. I asked what was wrong. My Aunt spoke up and told me that they had a Beagle named Snoopy. She went to the photo album and flipped through and as we were looking at the pictures together I spotted Snoopy! I told her that was him! That’s Snoopy!.

I will admit I was confused though and asked what happened to Snoopy? My Aunt told me that Snoopy loved crossing the main road every day to see his girlfriend who lived on the other side. So everyone in the house knew not to open the front door because Snoopy would escape and go see his girlfriend. Well one day when my Mom was home she had a friend over and she forgot to tell her to not open the front door without looking out for Snoopy. And he got out and ran across the road and he got hit by a car and died. My Mom went to him and tried to save him but she couldn’t. He died with her there holding him crying. I was crying too now.

Then my Aunt with a few tears in her eyes asked me about the other Beagle, the girl. I told her that her name was Missy. And again she and my family looked shocked/surprised. My Mom then smiled at me with tears in her eyes too and said that was Snoopy’s girlfriends name. That’s who he wanted to see when he died.

I wondered what this could mean and my Aunt told me that Snoopy must be happy in Heaven with his girlfriend. That they are together now and that Snoopy remembers how upset my Mom was and forgives her and loves her still.

I was happy/sad at the time. But it led to believe always that when our fur kids pass away. They don’t just leave us. They are always there watching over us. It helps me every time one of my fur kids leaves me in this world.

As a side note when my Golden Retriever, Tammy, passed away due to cancer when she was only 7 years old and I had come home grieving her loss, I noticed all of a sudden my Pitbull mix Cleo was staring at something that wasn’t there and all of a sudden she wagged her tail and looked happy. She had raised, like a Mom, Tammy from the day I brought her home. They were close and I thought she’d be depressed so that was quite a surprise to me . It dawned on me that maybe that was Tammy just saying until we meet again.

At least from my experiences, I believe that.
