Club Spotlight: Meet Kellcat

Posted by

This week while going through the email, we were touched by the loving answers that Phyllis, from Kellcat, provided about a Club named after a player who inspired them all to be better people. Cheers to Kellie…

1. What is the name of your Club and who is your Club Leader?

Kellcat’s humble beginnings started about 3 years ago with barely a handful of players with our highest score never making it out of the 20’s – that’s 20 thousand!

2. And who is your Club Co Leader?

Kellie started the team, she added Sarah as co-leader. Recently Sarah was appointed to leader, Meghan and myself, Phyllis, are now co-leaders.

3. How long has your Club been around?

Kellie started the team about 3 years ago.

4. What’s your motto?

Not sure we ever really had an “official” motto however, I think I can say the KellCat motto is “Never Give Up.”

5. What do you talk about in the Chat Channel?

Our game strategy is to play the Perks in a certain order and to all work on the same Perk together until it’s complete, then to the next in the order. We rely on chat to keep each other informed of our status, when we complete challenges and any issues we may have.

Our team literally spans the globe. None of us have ever met and have very different lives. As we are getting to know each other as teammates, we are also getting to know each other by sharing happenings in our lives, creating a connection, a bond, which is nice. Two weeks ago our bond got tighter.

6. What are some things you all have in common?

We lost our founder and leader, Kellie, to a very short and hard fought battle with cancer. Kellie was the epitome of “team player.” She was often the one who rallied us when the team or a team member was having an off week. Always positive and supportive, never an unkind word.

7. How has this changed your team?

Becoming just a co-leader, I am realizing how challenging and sometimes difficult leading a team can be.

8. How would you describe your strategy?

Meghan and myself have been with Kellcat since the start. How far we’ve come in that time is a testament of how dedicated Kellie was to the team, until the very end. Even after her diagnosis in February, she continued to be a positive force to the team, despite the battle she was facing in her personal life.

9. Who’s the hardest working Club Member?

Kellie was. She told us a few weeks ago that she would be leaving the team after that week’s challenge. Of course we thought it was to focus on healing, her spot would be there for her when she was ready to return, however long it took. We wished her well and said we’d keep in touch, follow her progress and offer HER support and encouragement.

About 3 days later, we were shocked and saddened to hear the news that Kell passed.

10. So very sorry for your loss. It sounds like you all were a wonderful source of support for her. Is there something you’d like to say to the Solitaire TriPeaks Community?

The team struggled to focus on the game that week, some of us still struggle but KellCat is rallying. We have a newfound connection, a kinship. We play now in memory of and for our brave, fearless and kindhearted leader, Kellie Cather. May she be at peace.
